Our Perception for Eternity's Perspective

There has been a search, a deepening in my spirit, to find what is of worth to my existence.

My morning has been found by eyelids gently opening and the stirring of stretches and the gathering of compulsive thoughts, all to lift myself from the cozy sheets that have held me in serenity all night. As I approach the day, I am confronted with the matters at hand (which seem to be so diverse most days).

For a moment, I find myself fixed on the fragmented leaves that are left dangling from the crisp winter trees. How long will the leaves sit fixated on the branch? It can't be too much longer I suppose.

Perhaps there is more for my vision to be situated on than that which falls to pieces? A leaf falls out of my peripheral.

The setting at which my heart knows it's home, is a place which is different than this... The environment is that of eternity.

Eternity is time without end; eternity with the Perfect One is our destiny.

Living a life of peace and goodness is beautiful, however there is no anchor for a soul that has not found its delight in the court of the King of peace and goodness. We are a people searching for baked goods in the toy section of our favorite department store. Challenged by what we do know and seemingly stuck at a loss by the things we do not, our minds seem entranced by doubt and pressure to perform or, to surpass performance and live lax lifestyles.

...

There is more to be put into the oven than just a meal that satisfies our belly for a span of a few hours. Is there not a more gratifying way to live than to fill ourselves, only to be told by our thoughts that we did not do a grandeur job? So we must fill again. (This repetitious process makes me feel inadequate just thinking about it.) But, how often do we do this with the God who created us?

God has never seen you, as a person, who is not good enough. He never created another person to compensate something you were lacking. Instead, He calls you more than enough.

Spending time, like money, on something valuable is easier said than done. We challenge ourselves to save for the big thing but bend on the little. When we realize what we have done, we try harder and, unless it happens too often, guilt provokes us to tighten the reins on our spending.

Perhaps we took an account of all the times where we have failed to achieve our goals with our finances; we added them up and carried them in a jar to remind ourselves what we had done incorrectly... You may say, "How inconvenient to carry a jar with you everywhere?" How embarrassing at that; every time someone asked you about your jar you would shyly tell them its purpose. You would have strong biceps for sure, but how would your heart feel, weighed down with such a guilt?

Somehow, we have become pardoners to this behavior in our own lives. We walk with a step that is crippled by guilt, and because of this we never enter into the presence of a King that desires to heal us and take our jars of failures and completely destroy it. A simple memory, slip-up, and mistake keeps us from meeting God where He is due to the fear of not being wanted or accepted afterwards.

Carrying your jar is up to you. This jar will be waiting at your bedpost every morning and your doorstep every afternoon. Choosing to walk with guilt will keep you from discovering the fullness of eternity.

God is eternity, the Maker of it. God is wholeness with no end. God is love, that is complete and never lacking. God is peace, that is all powerful and magnificent.

God is filled with pleasure in taking our burdens. Releasing them and accepting His never-ending freedom is entering into His eternity; the life, rest, and meaningfulness of Jesus is within reach.

Seek Him, for He is the subject of our class today, the main course of our meal, the object of our motivation, the destination of our travels.
